#32. Nisar Ali, My Gift to America
I grew up in a lower-middle-class family in Karachi, Pakistan, with eight siblings. My father was an incredibly hardworking and talented man. He built our home himself and even constructed machinery to assist in the process. Inspired by his dedication, I worked diligently on my education, earning a degree from NED Engineering University. Seeking greater opportunities, I moved to the United States for my master’s in computer science at Wayne State University in Michigan. My career began with a company that maintained National Science Foundation’s T1 network across U.S. I was part of the team that upgraded it to T3, a transformation that fueled the internet revolution. I contributed to innovations in wide-area networks. Beyond my career, my wife and I raised three accomplished children—two doctors and a research associate. Recently, I was honored to be elected to the Asian American Parents Association board and as a Santa Clara County Democratic Party delegate
