When the Covid pandemic began, fear and confusion became the world’s standard norm. The Asian American population, particularly Chinese Americans, faced backlash and physical assault on a daily basis. As a San Francisco native, I never saw so much hatred towards Asians for things not in our control. The attacks on the elderly brought on necessary action to not take such abuse. The United Peace Collaborative (UPC) was formed in the heart of San Francisco’s Chinatown to provide the resources of safety, community support and a voice to state that we are human beings. We stand tall in unison for the greater good of humanity. As Bruce Lee stated “Under the sky and heavens there is but one family. It just so happens that people are different.” This is a glimpse into what the UPC has done in giving Chinese Americans their voice back.
