44 Jike Chong

My name is Jike Chong and I tell a story of my teacher Shao Jingqun in this one-minute video. In the heart of Austin, Texas, there exists a melody that captures the essence of Spring itself. This melody, known as “Rushing Stream in Early Spring,” is a testament to the mastery of Master Shao Jingqun, a virtuoso in the art of the Chinese Zither, also known as GuZheng. Moving from China to the U.S. in 2001, she founded a GuZheng teaching center, guiding hundreds of students, some of whom have achieved significant musical accolades, including performing for Queen Elizabeth II. To her audience and student, Master Shao is like the gentle rain of early spring, nourishing our minds and souls with her performances and lessons. She has found her place here, among friends and the community. She belongs here.
