Bridges of Belonging: My Asian-American Story The 2021 Atlanta Spa shootings and other hate crimes against Asians during COVID deeply affected me. I feel that we Asian-Americans have to advocate for our community and support other marginalized groups facing similar challenges like racism. We have to stand up, not only for ourselves but for others as well. As a second-generation immigrant, I see my parents working tirelessly to achieve the American Dream. Many EBSC clients don’t speak English, just like my parents when they first arrived in the US. I use my language ability to support them in their citizenship journey and accelerate their hopes for stable, prosperous lives. We Asian-Americans can use our experience to help those who are still outsiders to the US. Everyone belongs here. I hope that my video can raise funding for Able2Shine, a Bay Area youth soft skills educational program, and inspire more Asian American kids to help out their community.
