#19. Chiyu Wang, My Gift to America
The Chinese American Cooperation Council, a nonprofit founded by first-generation Chinese immigrant volunteers in Pleasanton, California, promotes Chinese culture and heritage in America. For 21 years, our CACC Chinese School has taught over 740 language courses and 1,250 enrichment classes, reaching more than 30,000 students across generations. But our gift goes beyond the classroom. Through cultural events, traditional festivals, and stunning performances, we’ve brought joy, connection, and understanding to the Tri-Valley and beyond. We have hosted dozens of cultural events, festivals, and performances. This year, our 22nd Chinese New Year Gala marks another highlight of this gift. My gift to America is unity — connecting cultures and building bridges. We celebrate our teachers, students, and volunteers, especially our children, who carry this legacy forward. This gift was ours to give yesterday, it’s ours to share today, and it will shine tomorrow — through dedication, excellence, and love.
