#51. Shinyee Tang, My Gift to America
My name is Shinyee Tang and I’m nine years old. I would like to share a painting that I painted two years ago, We Are Golden as Asian Americans, as my gift to America. I created my version of Statue of Liberty. She is Asian, wearing a golden crown that glows like the sun. In her hand, she lifts a shining star, spreading light and hope. Around her, people of all backgrounds gather, their faces full of joy as they share gifts and laughter. Above, two phoenixes soar, lifting her long braids. In my culture, the phoenix symbolizes strength and renewal—just like Asian Americans, who rise and shine through challenges. My gift to America is this message: We are golden, and we shine brightest together.
