In China, the Lunar New Year is the biggest holiday of the year. Hundreds of millions of people travel across the globe to reunite with their families and celebrate this joyous occasion. However, in America, the youth cannot miss school. As a result, they do not get the opportunity to experience these rich traditions. This is why it is so essential for the Chinese Culture Club and other school communities to come together and arrange these celebrations. Palo Alto contains a diverse group of people and cultures. In our predominantly Asian school, we want our events to reflect this ethnic demographic and be a proud representation of the Chinese-American experience. As our events reach more and more students, we will continue to advocate for the diversity and cultural recognition everyone deserves. We hope to continue expanding our efforts and inspiring others to pursue cultural celebration.
