#80. Gunn Language Bridge Club, My Gift to America
When I first came to America, I couldn’t join friend groups because they’d already been formed; I struggled in academics because I’d no knowledge of the American education system, faced a language barrier and cultural differences. I wanted to help my peers with the same struggles. I envisioned they’d get help from peers in areas such as choosing courses, making friends, preparing for college admission process, getting to know facilities, etc. I envisioned those who received help would later help the next generation of new students. I envisioned they’d receive clear direction and relevant guidance. Now, club members can get advice on assignments, assessments, and choosing courses; those who couldn’t fathom going to any school events like homecoming before attend them with friends; and they can easily connect with each other and share their lives together. I envision my peers not only survive but thrive in America through my service.
