38 Hai Kim Le

I was born Hai Kim Le in Haiphong in 1952, Year of the Dragon; now experiencing my 6th turn of the Dragon in 2024. Life’s trials began early as Vietnam split in 1954, leading my family South. During the chaotic fall of Saigon in April 1975, I escaped as a 23-year-old boat person who resettled in America. Despite the pain of leaving family behind, I kept focused on their safety. Through personal hardships and an abusive marriage, I sponsored them to America one-by-one from 1993 to 1999. Countervailing my challenges, my children have established their own professional life, bringing me immense joy. At 72, I still work full-time, cherishing the friendships and community engagements America has offered. Grateful for the opportunities America provided, I believe we all belong here, striving for a better life and contributing to our community.
